It’s a cold windy Wednesday; I am at the door of the glamorous Koko club in Camden, London. In a couple of hours, Blackfield will enter the stage, starting their mini Europe tour, to support “IV” the latest effort from Aviv Geffen, the creative engine that drives the band. A special show, as this small tour has Steven Wilson joining on stage, possibly for the last time as the barefoot performer already announced he was leaving Blackfield to concentrate on his own band and projects. This nostalgic mood could be felt in the air, the sad conversations fans were having at the door of the venue were bittersweet: glad to witness one of the last performances with Steven Wilson, but very sad for knowing that would not happen anymore. Inside, within the labyrinths of Koko, we found a relaxed Aviv Geffen, very determined and confident on the band’s future.
