Lacuna Coil’s Dark Adrenaline
First of, why āDark Adrenalineā?
Getting a full feel for the album, āDark Adrenalineā, is in itself an ode to darkness.
No, Lacuna Coil have not left their Melodic Metal sound and turned to Black Metal, the truth is the album takes you to a deep dark corner in order to seduce the senses with the caressing and embracing darkness, leaving then a lingering yeaning for this dark embrace.
We can find a great balance in terms of vocals, seeing that we have the great voice of Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro that adds the sour voice needed to give more strength to every track.
Scabbia explains, āWe realized that the lyrics were about sadness, rage and anger, but also power, self-esteem and excitement; we felt the songs were turning into something harder and more obscure than on previous albums, but through team work, common goals and open minds, we came up with āDark Adrenalineā.ā
And this is the truth, if feels powerful, darker and angry.
Starting with the album single, āTrip The Darknessā, you get the invitation to follow in and it hits you right away embracing the inner darkness, inviting you to step on, without fear.
Although the sound has become somewhat darker, one cannot say that there is any lacking in the speed department songs like āFireā pull you and you feel the need to start jumping and maybe even running around franticly without aim or reason.
If you are into the melodic sound more than anything āEnd Of Timeā is a song full of feeling which could be listed as a power ballad.
To those more knowledgeable and familiar with the bandās work, immediately a recollection of āUnleashed Memoriesā and āComaliesā might pop in.
In sum, āDark Adrenalineā is a more balanced and complete work than the previous album and is one of the albums that will be on your playlist upon its release date.
