Learning to Fly, Power Metal from the obscure Europe
Power Metal from Bulgaria: Quite something, that has some obscurity. After all, the small country in Eastern Europe isn’t well known for a lot of Metal-bands.
Strangely enough, the first time listening to the lyrics a thought came to mind and immediately there was a vague recollection.
In terms of song writing the lyrics will strongly remind you of Manowar, although the vocals and the sound produced doesnât go to match said band but it reminds some 90âs sound as for instance Blind Guardian.
As for the songs on this album, “Warmachine” has a twist to it, you start with the regular style of this genre and in the mist of it you have a keyboard track that typically is so hard-printed into the Progressive Metal genre which is well fitted and delivers an immediate sense of what the band is all about.
“Learning to Fly” is more fast paced than the previous track displaying a more diverse range of skills and showing the bands approach to the Progressive Metal style.
“The One” featuring the vocal talents of Violeta Kousheva, shows the band versatility and displays the ever so present power ballad in which the feeling that went into the song writing just transpires and lures you in.
This is indeed one interesting band, at some points you might think that the talent is a bit raw but to tell the truth that is really shined out by the fact that this is the band debut album.
As you listen to Krossfire and if you are a fan of the Power Metal genre, you will be surprised by the quality in this, their first album.
In sum, Krossfire’s Learning to Fly is an interesting debut album although it still has some rough edges.
